About us

Twenty years ago, we embarked on a transformative journey, turning a conventional monoculture coffee farm into a thriving agroforest. Today, our land pulses with life as we cultivate, process, and sell an array of world-class organic products in perfect harmony with nature.

Deforestation poses a significant threat to life on our planet, particularly impacting rural and indigenous communities. In Guatemala, forests serve as the habitat for millions of people, predominantly of Maya descent, who rely directly on the land for their livelihoods.

At our regenerative agroforest farm Finca Encanto in Guatemala, we recognize that combating this threat requires empowering communities with education and agricultural resources. Our mission is to foster sustainable business practices that uplift marginalized populations out of poverty while concurrently safeguarding and rejuvenating the environment.

Through initiatives in regenerative agroforestry, ecotourism, forest conservation, and community development, Finca Encanto is committed to making a positive impact.

We maximize the regenerative potential of our agricultural systems

At Finca Encanto, we apply the practices of regenerative agroforestry to create a holistic approach to farming. Our goal is to generate a range of benefits for both people and nature, including improved soil health, increased biodiversity, enhanced water retention, and sustainable food production.

Through initiatives such as alley cropping, contour hedgerows, forest farming, and multistory cropping, we strive to mimic natural ecosystems and maximize the regenerative potential of our agricultural systems. By adhering to core principles such as keeping soil covered, increasing crop diversification, ensuring food security, promoting knowledge exchange, and maintaining economic viability, we are working towards creating a more resilient and sustainable future for all.

We help communities diversify through agroforestry

At Finca Encanto, we assist communities in diversifying their agricultural practices through agroforestry initiatives. By supplying cacao plants and other shade-dependent crops such as vanilla and xaté, we add short-term value to maturing forests. Our commitment to regular trainings and local support ensures that these communities employ intelligent, organic growing methods.

Through years of attentive cultivation, we are now collaborating with our partner communities to enhance the infrastructure for processing raw cacao and vanilla, utilizing local and sustainable resources. This endeavor represents a significant step towards maximizing the economic potential of the land while preserving its ecological integrity.

We’ve planted over 700,000 trees across Guatemala

In collaboration with the New Roots Foundation, we have successfully planted over 700,000 trees throughout Guatemala. Our joint efforts focus on reforesting and revitalizing landscapes by engaging partner communities in the planting of valuable hardwood trees, offering both short and long-term economic benefits potentially worth millions of dollars.

Moreover, our farm functions as a model farm aimed at teaching essential skills in tree planting, maintenance, forest product processing, and the appreciation of local resources. Through these educational initiatives, we empower communities to actively participate in the restoration and sustainable management of their natural surroundings.
